Begin with the assembly interfaces
Identify which faces, bores, holes and threads connect the part to the rest of the equipment. These are the features to discuss when defining the machining scope.
Make datums and dimensions explicit
The drawing should identify datums and dimensional requirements. Casting and machining can then be discussed as one project rather than as two disconnected operations.
Coordinate finishing and checks
Specify the surface conditions and inspection records needed for acceptance. If coating is part of the project, identify the faces and features that need protection or further clarification.
Agree the evidence before production
BLESS can provide material, dimensional and mechanical-property reports with the order. Agree the inspection scope and the features to verify before production begins.
